Amelia Palmer (she/her)

Hi, I'm Amelia, an illustrator and printmaker based in Northumberland, England. After graduating with an Illustration degree, I moved to Cambridge to study the MA Children's Book Illustration.

Growing up I was surrounded by coastline and countryside, and I've come to realise it's where much of my inspiration comes from. I've always been drawn to landscapes and discovered through the MA how much of an influence travel has in my practice, exploring new places through my sketchbooks. I love how sketches hold memory, taking you back to a different place and time in your life. With this, sense of place is a big part of my process, incorporating personality and memories to build stories.

Whether it's monoprint textures, spontaneous markmaking or curiously quiet characters, there's something about leaving room for your imagination to play that I've always admired in children's books, building a world that feels like your own.
