Claire Sahara Lemp (she/her)

Hi there! I’m Claire, an illustrator from Duluth, Minnesota (U.S). Much of my life has been spent observing the nooks and crannies of life; the small gestures, emotion, relationship, and humour that make up the world and the people in it. My sketchbook is a constant friend.

In my work, I seek to express these observations through colour and traditional media. I cut paper, I layer materials, I see what sticks (if there’s glue on it, it does). I am always looking for new discoveries through a hands-on, tactile approach—something that feels deeply essential to me in bringing image and story to life. It’s also fun (and fun is good).

I love to create stories that invite depth in a quiet way, and explore emotion and narrative through relationship, feeling, and memory. I also love a playful story with quirk and a bit of humour. My four-year-old tells me what's funny, and I take him quite seriously on the matter.
