Heidi Burton (she/her)

Hei! I’m Heidi, a British-Finnish illustrator based in Cambridge.

My work is shaped by childhood nostalgia and a deep connection with the natural world, cultivated during summer adventures in Finland among the elves and Moomins!

As an observer of the ordinary, I find inspiration in nuances and minutiae of the everyday. I aim to capture a sense of childhood wonder by translating my curiosity into visual narratives.

The MA in Children’s Book Illustration afforded me the opportunity to indulge my personal preoccupations, thus I’ve created book projects involving detectives, nature, neurodivergence, and nosy neighbours!

I work using traditional and digital media, typically pencils, and/or watercolours, and more recently soft pastels. I continue to experiment with hand drawn type and incorporating hand-printed textures into my images.
