Reena Coceal (she/her)

Hello, I’m Reena and based in Hertfordshire. My background in early years teaching and Fine Art has driven me to seek a way of merging the two by venturing into children’s book illustration.

I’ve been mostly inspired by old vintage family photographs and some observations from my travels, with themes of memory and nostalgia forming the main interests of my work. I have experimented with various mediums such as pencil, crayon, watercolour, gouache, digital techniques with paint textures, and Riso printmaking. I intend to further develop my visual language and focus on the use of tone, atmosphere and colour in effectively conveying narratives.

The MA course has been an enlightening start to the journey towards becoming an illustrator and I feel there is still yet lots to learn and discover through the process!
