I can’t remember a time when I haven’t drawn or painted. Throughout school my books were filled with drawings from my imagination, drawings to make me and my friends laugh. This is something I have happily continued doing.
Since completing my BA in Fine Art printmaking and photography in 2001 I have maintained a creative practice.
Observational drawing has become central to my way of working now, with print and painting the main techniques.
Teaching children and observing their play and the way they think has inspired a sense of the ridiculous in my work. The books from publisher Harlin Quist are among my favourite. I love how full of absurdity and pure imagination they are.
The endless potential of children’s books excites me and the course has been an incredible experience.
