Born in Ohio in the United States, my earliest memories involve playing with my three siblings and imagining worlds populated by teddy bears. I obsessed over collecting, drawing, and writing about bears.
I grew to appreciate more things in life, including graphic design, illustration, and education. After receiving a BFA in Visual Communication Design from Kent State University, I worked professionally as a designer and illustrator. A keen interest in education and children’s literacy led me to the Peace Corps Fellows Program at Teachers College, Columbia University earning an MA in Education, and subsequently beginning a teaching career in New York City public schools.
After moving to London and continuing teaching, my previous interests came full circle, leading me to pursue writing and illustrating books for children. Being accepted into the Children’s Book Illustration MA at Cambridge School of Art has been an amazing experience, where I am once again writing, drawing, and obsessing over bears.
