I grew up in rural Cambridgeshire, returning there to bring up my own family when I was working as a book designer for Cambridge University Press. Consistent threads in my life, throughout many changes, have been a love of drawing, books, animals and the countryside.

The MA in Children’s Book Illustration was a long awaited opportunity, and a chance to investigate ways of expressing and exploring these important themes.

My work is drawing led. I often combine a drawing with layers of watercolour, sometimes printmaking, and usually finish images digitally. I enjoy making illustrations with vibrant but controlled colour palettes, strong shapes and designs on the page, and working to combine images and text to achieve the interweaving layers of a good picturebook story.
