I illustrate people and places which inspire me and are heartwarming. Some of the people come from observation but many appear from the depths of my own internal archive and they are often surprising. I generally start with a nose and the rest comes from there.
The survival instinct is strong in my family and at times I struggle to justify a life dominated by drawing. But one of the many things I have learned on this extraordinary course is that some of us are storytellers and we owe it to ourselves to spend time doing what we do best instead of pretending that it isn’t important.
