I enjoy documentaries about people, Japanese woodcuts, comic books and dramatic movies. These all influence my image making and story telling. I used to work in an advertising studio with film directors and digital artists; whilst there I learnt about photo manipulation, storyboarding and layout design. This course has helped consolidate my digital skills with the drawings in my sketchbooks. I experiment with traditional media to develop ideas and create textures. I like the mundane and the dramatic, the surreal and the ridiculous. I favour art that is inclusive and accessible. I am inspired by the work of Raymond Briggs, Grayson Perry and Jeffrey Lewis because of the way they balance sincerity and humour.
