Athena Liu

(She/Her)

Yuxi Liu is an illustrator from China. She graduated from the University of the Arts London with a degree in Graphic Design in 2022, and completed her MA in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art in 2026. She uses narrative illustration, rich textures, and shifts in colour to convey atmosphere and emotion, bringing imagined worlds vividly to life.

She enjoys creating harmonious, colour-rich backgrounds with watercolour on wet paper, then further developing the image with a range of materials. Combining and experimenting with mixed media is an essential part of her process. Her work explores the relationship between characters and natural environments, often using colour to express emotional changes and narrative mood.

Yuxi primarily works with watercolour, coloured pencil, crayon, and mixed media to create immersive, expressive scenes.
