Evie Pernet (she/her)
Hello! I'm Evie and I come from the windy cold coast of rural North Yorkshire.
I love stories of any kind, may they be folktale and myths, articles and news pieces or conversations with strangers - people are amazing and their resilience, suffering or kindness is what motivates me to want to tell stories through illustration.
The wild coastal weather and pine forests of my home alongside my love of craft has been a constant influence on the themes and physical nature of my work. Needle felting, crocheting, building sets and making wooly characters for animation projects have all become a major part of my practice in my attempt to bring the mood of rural landscapes and it's creatures to life. I've experimented this year with stop-motion animation, in the creation of my short film 'Hot Chocolate' featuring a little wooly rabbit and all his kitchen utensils made entirely using needle felting.

MOVING KIRUNA
This book is based on the real story of the Swedish town of Kiruna, built on an active iron ore mine which is causing the ground beneath it to deform and sink. The mine is the town's main employer and one of the world’s largest iron ore exporters; closing the mine isn't an option and so the town is undergoing a huge relocation project. This book is inspired by the human narratives of Kiruna and what it feels like to leave home behind.
HOT CHOCOLATE
This process board book follows a small character who guides young readers through the stages of making hot chocolate - from the names of the utensils, to the verbs for each action and the sounds they make.
HOT CHOCOLATE ANIMATION
A stop-motion animated film made almost entirely from needle felted wool, follows a rabbit character through the stages of making hot chocolate - complete with sound and music.
