Katina Ward
Katina is an illustrator based in Cambridge. She loves drawing comics and cartoons that explore thoughts, feelings, and everyday experiences. Since embarking on this MA, Katina has delved into a whole new world of image making to bring to life the longer-form stories she writes.
Katina draws inspiration from the world around her and the way she experiences it. Influenced by her childhood growing up in the Finnish countryside, her first book How to Capture a Forest explores the beauty of nature and the feeling of immersing yourself in it. Her stories range from light-hearted and funny to peaceful and reflective. She chooses her materials in response to each story and has particularly enjoyed exploring black and white imagery and playing with texture over the past few months.
Alongside her practice, she facilitates art for wellbeing sessions and works as a wellbeing mentor for students at ARU and the University of Cambridge.
