Matt colE
(He/Him)
Matt Cole is an illustrator based in York, North Yorkshire.
Matt’s illustration is informed by a love of observational drawing. He is always looking for narrative threads in the world around him and enjoys meeting with other creatives and sketching on location in Leeds and York. Matt enjoys spooky stories and has a fascination with folktales and what they reveal about who we are, and who we want to be.
As a lover of the maximalism movement, Matt embraces the mantra that more is most definitely more and wants every child who enters one of his illustrated worlds to find something to delight their eye.
Most days, Matt can be found at home attempting to illustrate from under a purring pile of cats.

In the Twilight Hunt
In the Twilight Hunt is a retelling of the Scottish folktale, 'The Boy Who Trapped Death in a Nut' and deals with themes of love, grief and nature's balance. The ideal reading age for this narrative is 8-12.
The House of Scout
Challenged to live on his own, Scout must make it on his own in the world. This is a story of big piles of stuff and an even bigger imagination.
