Shway Yang
(She/her)
Xue Yang, who works under the name Shway, is an illustrator originally from China and currently based in London.
Her practice is rooted in observation and everyday life. Her sketchbooks are often filled with drawings of her dog, passengers on trains, people chatting in cafes, and plants as they change through the seasons. Alongside observing daily life in London, she draws on childhood memories of growing up in China to explore themes of cultural identity and belonging. Shway mainly works with drawing and printmaking, creating character-led narratives that bring a sense of play, humour, and surprise to ordinary scenes.
