Yihan Liu

(She/Her)

Yihan Liu is a China-based mixed-media illustrator whose work explores the intersection of nature and science. She studied Fine Art at UAL, where her interest in expressing the natural world through art developed. She later spent a year working in Design Strategy, shaping content with a holistic user experience in mind.

During her MA at ARU, she primarily combined hand-drawn mixed media with digital collage, approaching materials and processes in an open and exploratory way. Her work is characterised by childlike innocence, poetic sensibility, subtle humour, and rich textures.

Inspired by a long-standing curiosity about the natural world, her practice is shaped by childhood experiences with outdoor science and frequent visits to museums and zoos. These influences continue to inform her exploration of visual and narrative possibilities in non-fiction children’s books about nature.
